Women: Leading the Future of Technology Forum
Held on Tuesday, March 25, 2008
BWI Marriott
MDWIT and the Technology Council of Maryland were excited to host this year’s women and technology conference: “Women: Leading the Future of Technology.” We were pleased to welcome Ms. Sandra Evers-Manly, VP of Corporate Responsibility for Northrop Grumman Corporation and President of the Northrop Grumman Foundation as our keynote speaker. This one-day conference began with breakfast and networking. Our breakfast speaker, Ms. Lynne Waymon, CEO of Contacts Count, gave a dynamic presentation on networking. Break-out sessions followed and were focused on three audience groups:
- Women in Entrepreneurship
- Women in the Technology Workforce
- The Next Generation of Women in Technology
At the beginning of lunch, we gave away a brand new Dell laptop to one lucky student. After our fabulous keynote address, we presented the 2008 Korenman Award. This award recognizes an individual who has dedicated time and resources to support girls' and women's advancement in technology. After the event, an optional networking party, "Using Your New Networking Skills" was held.
