The Texas Alliance for Minorities in Engineering (TAME) delivers
programs intended to excite kids about careers in Science Technology
Engineering and Math (STEM).  TAME is a small non-profit whose
work is mostly driven by volunteers and a small staff. We are seeking to

Purpose of position This position serves as the Executive Director of the
Texas Alliance for Minorities in Engineering (TAME). Responsible for the
overall operation of the TAME state office and its day-to-day business
affairs. Responsible to ensure that the goals, objectives and plans set
forth by the TAME Board are implemented.

Essential functions:
  Direct TAME affairs; set office operations for state
office. Hire and supervise office staff. Assist Board and Chapters in
carrying out objectives, goals and programs of the organization. Assist
Board with fundraising activities, including proposal preparation and
presentations to various agencies. Seek and develop potential private
donors. Assist Board Chair in preparing agendas, documents and gathering
information and planning for board meetings, conferences and training
sessions. Serve as official representative to federal, state and private
agencies and organizations. Prepare budget and assist Treasurer in the
management of funds and other resources. Serve as Director for government
(state and federal) and private funded programs.

 

Required qualifications -- Bachelor's degree with five years of administrative
and managerial experience in academia and/or technology-oriented industry.
Experience in program development to include proposal and grant writing.
Solid knowledge of financial business practices. Experience in public
presentations. Experience with Quickbooks, Dreamweaver, publication software
and databases. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred qualifications -- Graduate degree with experience in organization and
administration of volunteer groups. More than five years of managerial
experience. Familiarity with issues of public education (K-12) particularly
as related to engineering, mathematics, and science. Instructional
experience highly desirable. Demonstrated competency in communication and
interpersonal skills (resolving issues, coaching and counseling).
